Store Information
This is an early “5 digit” vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI bari sax, serial number 58630. The serial number dates this sax to 1954, this very first year of the Mark VI. It has been around the block but still has plenty to offer a new owner, and is priced aggressively to sell fast.
If you wanted to nitpick all the past repairs on this bari, you'd drive yourself crazy. Suffice to say that it seen its share of the road life, with past dent work, resolders, etc. That being said, there is nothing holding it back from being a solid player. Pads were recently replaced and the horn is sealing well down to low Bb. It could use some minor adjustments to really be optimal, but with the amount of past work on the horn, you could chase that rabbit down the hole and end up spinning your wheels, so we've decided to sell it as-is and keep the price down. The sax was relacquered in the past but shows little lacquer on the horn currently, and comes with its original neck (with matching serial number stamped in it).
If you don't care about looks and just want a rocking Mark VI at a good price, this bari will not disappoint. It plays with a big, beefy sound, full bottom end, and doesn't have a lot of resistance or constriction in the way it takes your air. Also has a lot of warmth and color, so you can have assurance that it will sit in well at any gig you need to take. Ships in a solid vintage wood case.
