Store Information
This is an original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 210217. This is a great horn for players looking to get into an original, freshly overhauled Mark VI for under $5k, a real good price (the work we're going to do alone runs $1500+).
This tenor has seen a full life of playing and has the battle scars to prove it. There's a smattering of dings and dimples (all of which we will remove) and the bell flare was previously bent down on one side. There's one past resolder, on one foot of the low Eb keyguard. All that being said, the original lacquer is still in pretty solid shape with a lot of coverage still intact, as you can see in the photos. Note that a previous owner did etch some letters/numbers on the body tube just above the serial number stamping. The sax no longer has its original neck, but has been matched with a newer Selmer Paris Reference 36 neck, which fits perfectly.
This tenor came to us on old pads well past prime, so to do it right for its next owner, the sax will go through our repair shop for a fresh pro overhaul. Included in the price, we'll do a full disassembly and cleaning, all needed dent work to make the sax ding-free, and replace all pads and material. We'll use premium firm leather pads and original style brown plastic resonators, so the finished product will have a very original-like look to it. It will come to its next owner in perfect playing shape and ready to go for a long time to come.
If you've been hunting for an original (never relacquered) Mark VI tenor but have been scared away by the prices, this is a great opportunity. Ships in a Selmer Vanguard series wood case.
