Mark VI Tenor – High F#
This is a lovely Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone in original lacquer by Selmer Paris manufactured in 1965, serial number 122432. If you are looking for a hands down great player with a clean look this horn is going to be very appealing. This sax shows off a nice original lacquer finish which is nicely complemented by crisp floral engraving. It is also with the original neck with matching serial number stamp. As the pictures show the tenor has seen plenty of honest play time in the past and some history of small repairs. The body tube, bow, bell and bell flare all look fantastic. Looking over all of the key guards carefully, the guard for the Alt F# key has been solder repaired in the past. The original neck of the saxophone with matching serial number stamp is included. It is in similar physical condition to the rest of the saxophone but has never been pulled down.

This saxophone was professionally played and regularly maintained by the last owner. It was last re-padded and serviced by a pro shop on the East Coast. At this time it is playing with an impressive free blowing response all the way down to low Bb. It has been played on regularly since it was last serviced and could ultimately use a little bit of set up work before it could be considered perfect. But because it is playing extremely nicely at the moment we are selling it currently sits to keep the price at a premium.

The sax came into our shop playing with a ultra robust and powerful free blowing sound. It currently is with a nice set of premium leather pads, metal domed resonators fairly open key heights. Anyone looking for a good looking VI with a fat sonic characteristic are going to fall in love with this saxophone quickly.

A few modifications to this saxophone have been made. The last tech to work on this sax installed a modification on the side keys to sort out the noisy ball pivot mechanisms. This is a well though out and excellent modification. The last owner also had a couple of wooden palm key risers installed on the saxophone, these can be removed upon request. The thumb rest on this saxophone is a non original silver plated.
