This is an absolutely beautiful condition King Super 20 tenor sax in original lacquer, serial number 408987. This tenor dates to the late Cleveland days, before King moved to Eastlake. It has its original sterling silver neck (with underslung octave key) and is slotted to receive a full pro overhaul from our repair shop. It will come to its next owner in tip-top playing shape and ready to bring years of enjoyment.

As you can see in the photos, this tenor is in the top 5% of vintage Super 20s out there. The original lacquer is 98-99% intact, and the only wear is some scratching on the backside of the bell and body tube. There's a bit of past dent work around the inner curve of the bottom bow, but no other previous repairs. There are NO resolders, and the neck has never been pulled down or damaged. When you open the case on this tenor, it really takes your breath away with how clean the horn looks from top to bottom.

This tenor came to us on all original pads, and hadn't been played in decades. To make it right, we'll be performing our full overhaul. Included in the price, we'll do a full disassembly and cleaning, as well as tidy up the past dent work in the bottom bow. We'll replace all of the pads and material (using premium firm leather pads matched with seamless metal resonators) and only the best synthetic material in between the keys. Finally, we'll optimize the spring tensions and key heights throughout, so that it will feel like a brand new horn under your fingers.

Currently blowing through some leaks, you can still get an idea for the presence/power on this Super 20. Full and warm sound from the bell keys up into the palm keys and beyond. Great rock horn, and in a condition that you'll probably never see again on a Super 20. Ships in its original case, and as you can see in the pictures, it too is in pristine shape.
