As-Is Vintage 1949 Conn 10M in Gold Lacquer #335600 - Players Horn!
Solid 10M AS-IS Bargain
Here we have a 1949 vintage C.G. Conn 10M 'Naked Lady' series tenor sax in gold lacquer, serial number 335600. This saxophone is a post WWII horn on an old set of pads, it could use a full overhaul to put it in perfect playing condition, however we are selling it in as-is condition to keep costs low to the buyer.
The C.G. Conn 'Naked Lady' 'M' Series is revered by many professionals as a fine vintage horn, its manufacture began during a transitional period in the early 1930s, followed by an official start in 1935. These horns give a massive, rich sonic character with a free blowing feel.
This one has been relacquered at some point since 1949, it looks like a really well done factory job, the engraving is still visible! They even put in Conn reso-pads with flat-disc, riveted metal resonators. These pads are beyond their lifespan, while the horn is playing through leaks, it could use a full overhaul and a re-spring to bring it back to the present. When that's done this 10M will be ready to tear down the club night after night, its true purpose.
Physically, this horn has stood the test of time; the bell is in great shape, no pushed in keyguard feet, but there are some small indentations on the bow and body tube. The bell-to-body brace hasn't been pushed in or deviated either. The neck has been pulled down at some point. The post-WWII Conn saxophones featured drawn tone holes that were never rolled, this one is in that era so it's important to note this feature.
Sonically, this plays just like any 10M, a big wide dark and rich tone, it takes your air easily and responds quickly. The low end is massive when it plays, the high end has a powerful core with a slight tinge of brilliance.
If you are looking to get into a 10M for cheap, and you know a reliable tech, this is a great option to overhaul, it will be straightforward. We will ship this horn in as-is condition with its neck.
