Gold Plated Holton Alto

This is a Frank Holton alto saxophone, manufactured in Elkhorn Wisconsin, still in its original gold plate, serial #29004. It was just freshly restored in the Saxquest shop by Aaron Standing. The sax is now back to perfect playing condition with all new premium leather pads, metal domed resonators, new corks, felts and springs.

The body of this alto is in tremendous physical condition. It is with the original neck as well as all of the original key work, rollers and pearls. These vintage Holton models feature a trill G# in the right hand as well as a trill Eb. They also have a very comfortable tear drop style front F key. Looking over the sax very carefully it looks like there was a few smaller dings taken out around the bow as well as some repair to the neck. It also has a few small solder repairs that were done by a previous repair tech located on the alt F# key and a post in the upper stack. The body tube, bell and bow cap are all in great original condition as is all of the tone holes.

This is a fabulous example of an American classic in very rare gold plate. It plays with a very smooth response to air flow while producing a warm sonic character. These vintage Holtons are highly responsive instruments and showcase a very sweet and lyrical quality as well. This one in particular also has an exceptionally balanced scale for its vintage.
