This is a mid-20s vintage Buffet Crampon Paris Evette-Schaeffer model alto sax, serial number 27858. The Evette horns are today known for being more of a student model, but in its day this was the pro model offered by Buffet in France. This example was imported and sold from Carl Fischer in New York (also engraved on the bell) and is a neat addition to any collector's accumulation.

These early Buffet models are very “Adolphe Sax-like,” with keywork that would be considered antiquated by today's standards. It doesn't have pearls, opting for metal touches instead, and the table keys in particular would be a nightmare to get around on, but it just shows you how far the instrument has come. The body of this alto is in bare brass (most likely as it came from the factory) and shows no signs of previous heavy buffing. Despite its age, there is also no major dents or past damages.

This alto is currently sitting on very old pads that are past use. For any playing, it would need to be repadded/overhauled. We are selling it as-is at a low price, and it will ship in a hard case for protection.
