This is a very early vintage (1987) Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II alto sax, serial number 399316. The serial number dates this sax to the first year or two of this model. There's a lot of players who like these early Series II's more than the “newer” ones, and it is easy to see why, as they often play with more open, more resonant feel.

This alto shows normal wear and tear but has obviously never been abused. The lacquer wear is normal, but there are no dents or dings and no previous repairs, including no resolders. This is a former military-owned horn, and they etched some identifying marks on the body tube above the serial number (see photos), but that's about it. The original neck shows lacquer wear and a couple shallow pings, but has never been pulled down or seriously damaged.

Pads have been replaced as needed over the years, but this sax has never been fully overhauled, still showing a good number of original pads. As such, it will go through our shop for a full, professional repad before shipping. Included in the price, we'll take it apart, clean it inside and out, and replace all pads and material. We'll set key heights and spring tensions back to factory specs and get it playing better than the day it left the factory.
