Store Information
Here's the deal of the day: a vintage Martin Committee III “The Martin Alto” sax, serial number 158266. This horn will ship with a full overhaul from our shop, so for the price, you are getting a freshly restored pro level horn. It's a great option for advancing students and professional saxophonists wanting a pro level sax at a sub-$2000 price.
This alto is in solid shape for a sax that dates back to 1946. It was relacquered once before but done extremely well. As you can see in the photos, the engraving remains crisp and defined with no signs of buffing. There's some past dent work here or there, a couple old resolders, but no serious past trauma. The neck is original to the horn with matching serial number, and does have a bent of dent work under the octave key saddle.
As most players are wont to do, pads have been replaced as needed over the years, but it had been quite some time since the sax was last fully repadded. To give it a new lease on life, we'll be performing our full pro overhaul. It will get a full cleaning inside and out, all new pads and material, and new springs too. We'll set it up and optimize key heights and spring tensions for feel and response. It will feel like a dream under your hands once our work is completed, and all is included in the price.
Currently blowing through some leaks, the sax still has a nice response and overall warmer tone, but not overly dark or stuffy. I can't wait to give it a good blow once the work is completed! Ships in a newer Protec contoured case.
