This is a custom silver restored SML Rev D series alto sax, serial number 10306. This is a tremendous looking sax that a previous owner put a lot of money into, but it needs some work in its current state. If you can tweak out some pads, you'll have a fine sax that no one else can match.
As the photos show, this alto is a stunner. It features new frosty matte silver plate on the body, with shiny silver plated keywork and inlay in the engraving, which was properly masked off and looks incredible. The silver is just starting to tarnish here and there, but can easily be polished up to shine like new. This sax features rolled tone holes which are all in good shape (no major filing that I can spot) and the original neck has never been pulled down or damaged. In fact, I see no signs of any past repair anywhere on this horn, it really is in great shape from top to bottom.
Pads were replaced during the new plating work, and all are in like-new condition with brown nylon resonators. However, the sax is not playing in its current state, with leaks throughout. Because the sax has rolled tone holes, you can squeeze and get it to seal for the most part, but the sax really needs a fresh pro set up to iron out the leaks. You will have to float or replace a few pads, replace material, and do some key fitting to really get the sax optimal.
It's a shame our repair shop is so backed up, as I'd love to be able to play this sax after it has been properly adjusted. I'm sure it's a baller! I've always loved the Rev D SML's, and this one with its custom silver plating, I bet it'll be an awesome sax for its next owner.
