Vintage Cleveland era King Super 20 tenor sax, serial number 339832. This tenor is a baller for anyone wanting a true “pearl side key” vintage Super 20 without spending $6k+. It needs some work, but is playing as it sits and will get the job done.

This tenor looks to be an old factory relac. The engraving remains very crisp with signs of major buffing, and even the “newer” lacquer is pretty worn, especially on the back side of the tube. This tenor has been around the block, and shows history of past dent work here and there, and a couple resolders, for example, the octave key saddle on the neck has been resoldered, as seen in the photos. All of the pearls, both in the stack and on the side keys, feel very worn. If I had to guess, a previous owner had a high acidity level in the skin/sweat, which would explain the pearl condition. One pearl (palm D) is lost and has been replaced. The original sterling silver neck is included, with double socket receiver, and it has the matching serial number stamped in it.

Someone replaced pads in this tenor sometime in the last handful of years, but the pads aren't the best quality, and there are some minor leaks here and there when you play it. However, it does blow down to low Bb. You could take it out on a gig right now, but the sax could really use some TLC to iron out some leaks and optimize some of the action (the keywork is clicky in spots). We're selling the sax as-is at a low price, giving you room to get this work done down the road and still be way ahead in the game.

For the busy gigging professional who loves the Super 20 sound, you can't go wrong with this horn. It plays with a big, full sound, just what you want from arguably the best era Super 20 that King ever produced. Ships in a contoured gig case.
