Store Information
This is a late 1950s vintage Conn 6M alto sax, serial number 696947. This alto features the iconic “naked lady” style engraving, and while it currently needs a restoration, it can be had for a super low price and is a good project for enthusiasts with a repair bench in the basement.
This alto appears to have been relacquered long ago, but done extremely well. Almost certainly a factory job, because the engraving is still sharp and defined with no signs of buffing. Currently, the horn has quite a few dings and dimples up and down the side of the body and bell, a solid amount of dent work. Pads are old too, so all together, it definitely needs a restoration. The neck is not original to the horn, but is a factory replacement Conn neck with double socket receiver, underslung octave key, and microtuner mechanism. Unlike the rest of the sax, the neck is in pristine, like-new condition. However, it is not currently working with the sax. It physically fits into the receiver, but the octave key doesn't have proper clearance, and will need to be adjusted by your tech during the overhaul.
With a proper restoration, this sax can be a fine player again one day, just need the time and patience to make it happen. With our repair shop backed up for months, we've decided to sell this one “as is.” Ships in a hard case.
