This is a later vintage (1927) Buescher True Tone series alto sax in original silver plate, serial number 225939. This horn features some keywork improvements over the earlier True Tones, most notably a front F key. Currently playing well on older pads, it is a great horn for the player on a budget.
The original silver plating on this alto is a bit tarnished but in excellent physical condition. The sax shows no major past dent work or repair, including no resolders. The original # 1 neck has never been damaged or pulled down. The sax does still have all of its original snap-in metal resonators, and while pads are starting to get up there in years, the sax is sealing surprisingly well and plays to low Bb.
A repad probably isn't too far off, but this sax is currently playing well and has a darker tone with good control and excellent versatility. A slightly spread tone with a lively response give you a lot of flexibility in which direction you want to take it. Nice vintage sax for players who love the classics, it ships in its original hard case.
