Store Information
This is a late vintage King Super 20 Silver Sonic series tenor saxophone, serial number 719732. This tenor is in very good shape and will ship with a pro overhaul from our shop. If you've been hunting for a Silver Sonic but don't want to drop $5k+, this is a great deal for you. And if you look close at the photos, you'll notice that, unlike earlier era Super 20's, this one is keyed to high F#, a very nice bonus.
This tenor is in really good shape for a horn that has been out in the real world getting played. The lacquer is original and shows moderate wear on the backside of the body tube, but no serious past trauma. There is one medium-sized dent in the front curve of the bottom bow, which we will remove seamlessly during our work, but no other past damages/repairs that I can spot, and that includes no resoldered joints. The bell flare has never been bent (still has the gold wash inside the bell) and the original sterling silver neck has never been pulled down.
The previous owner kept this horn maintained with pads as needed, but it has never received a good pro overhaul, so we're going to rectify that. Our overhaul will include full disassembly and cleaning/polishing, all new pads/corks/felts (buyer's choice of metal or brown nylon resonators), all new springs, and pro regulation. We'll optimize key heights and spring tensions up and down for intonation and response and have it playing to the height of its ability.
I can't wait to give this one a whirl once our work is complete. It's leaking pretty badly right now, but we'll make it sing, so that it is ready to bring years of enjoyment to its new owner. Ships in a vintage hardshell case which is in decent shape.
