Here's a true collector's item that will turn heads. This is an original gold plated 1927 Buescher True Tone (“The Buescher”) alto sax, serial number 230970. Nothing special about a '27 Buescher you say? Check out that engraving! This horn features extensive factory engraving all over the place, including several portraits, and the name “Daisy” engraved at the front of the bottom bow. As such, we've grown to calling this horn the Buescher Daisy around the shop here.

The engraving on this alto takes your breath away. Basically everywhere you look you'll see something new. It wraps all around the bell, extends down on both sides of the bottom bow, and then goes all the way up the body tube. Anywhere there isn't a tone hole or something in the way, the engraver hit it, and that includes on the neck. Amazing stuff, and it shows an expert in the craft that is unmatched today.

The factory gold plating is in very good shape, with no major wear of note, and the sax has just a couple very tiny dings here and there, but no serious past trauma or repair. A couple rollers have been replaced, but the sax retains all of the original factory snap-in metal resonators from what I can spot. The last pad job was several years ago and the current pads are not sealing; as such, it will go through our shop for a fresh adjustment before shipping. We'll reseat/float all pads as needed for a proper seal and replace all key adjustment corks and felts, regulating the stacks and optimizing action throughout.

If you are a serious collector, this is a horn to cherish for the rest of your life. You'll never find another one like it.
