This is a cool old horn for collectors looking for something unique. This is a 1926 vintage Frank Holton alto sax in original gold plate, serial number 27003. Currently in need of an overhaul, we are selling this beauty as-is at a very low price.

As you can see in the photos, the factory original gold plating is lightly tarnished in spots but is in remarkable condition for its age. Being gold, it can be polished up to shine like new. Physically, the sax shows no dents or signs of past repair, no resolders or anything like that. The original neck shows light surface wear and one tiny ping on one side, but all just cosmetic. The sax currently has black pearl touches (I don't think original, but they look cool!) but is missing the original left hand 8ve key thumbrest pearl touch. A new one (or a plastic version) will need to be made.

This sax has some cool features, some far ahead of its time. It features a tear-drop front F key, back when everyone else was using a less-comfortable pearl there (or none at all!). There's some extra trill keys in the right hand too, as seen in the photos. While the pads are old and beyond use, the keywork remains in excellent shape with nothing frozen, stiff, or sluggish. With a fresh set of pads and proper adjustment, this alto will really sing.
