Here's a horn you don't see very much: this is an original silver plated King Voll-True II series alto sax, serial number 156177. This alto takes the cake for a unique look, probably one of the most interesting saxes King made. Featuring many improvements over the original Voll-True, it is a bit antiquated by today's standards, but tonally, it was a huge leap for King, and points in the direction they'd take with the Zephyr and Super 20 models that were to come.
Take a look at the photos closely, because there are some neat design ideas on this horn. The “square” pinky and table keys stand out, but it also has a wrap-around G# (also actuated by a trill key in the right hand) and a couple other oddities. The silver plating is all original and in tremendous shape, with only light tarnish for its age. The sax shows no real dents or repairs; it and the neck are all in amazing overall condition.
Pads are very old, and the sax will most certainly need a repad if you are going to do more than tinker around on it. Due to the uniqueness of this instrument, we are selling it as-is, for the potential collector out there to get and enjoy. It does ship in its original hard case.
