BEAUTY from the 90s!

This is an absolutely stunning Yamaha YTS-875 Custom tenor sax in black lacquer with gold-lacquered keys, serial number #002567. This sax is in excellent playing condition and will receive a Saxquest setup after purchase.

The Yamaha Custom 875 model was manufactured beginning in 1990, pre-EX, and was made until the Custom Z and EX came out in the early 2000s. These horns feature full chromatic keywork from low Bb up to high F#, front-F mechanism included. The side keys for high F# and chromatic F# are both wide and flat in their shape, easy to catch any person’s hands, no matter the size or reach. They play with a dark, focused sonic character, with solid intonation and fast response. The original M1 neck gives the whole horn a lovely free-blowing feel.

Physically, this horn is nearly spotless; there are barely any scrapes exposing brass beneath the deep black lacquer, just one on the octave key, and on the bow. There’s no lacquer wear on the keys otherwise, and all the original, real mother-of-pearl key touches are present. The 1990s era, floral engraving contrasts so beautifully to the black lacquer.

We will give this horn a set-up to tighten a few keys and change out felts and corks, ensuring the key action is smooth with low friction. This will be covered by a 1-year mechanical repair warranty, where we will repair any regular wear and tear on the corks, pads, or felts within that window.

This horn ships in perfect playing condition with the original neck in its original maroon box-style Yamaha carrying case.
