This is a fantastic Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II tenor saxophone, serial number 425256. The SII has long been a go to choice for some of the worlds finest professionals. Like many great instruments this one does show the history of plenty of past use. The body is in very solid condition as it is now. This saxophone was just freshly overhauled by Aaron Standing in the Saxquest shop and is now in perfect playing condition with all new pads and materials.
The body of the tenor is in very good condition with some history of modest past repair and play wear. Looking over it carefully it looks like there has been some dings previously removed around the bow. The bow cap itself is still in great shape and has never been pushed in. There was also some past repair to the original neck. The saxophone has never received any serious solder repairs in the past. All of the original key work and key guards are in very good shape.
This particular SII plays with a smooth response and a darker sound. These horns are much more focused in comparison to the bigger spread the earlier vintage Selmers. The tighter core allows for outstanding control and balance across all registers. These are very versatile pro horns and work great in a large variety of musical settings. The focused response and darker sound make them a favorite with classical players as well as people doing a lot of commercial work.
This SII was just overhauled in the Saxquest shop. The pro overhaul included a dissemble, cleaning and precise key fitting. It was then set up with all new Valentino pro pads, metal domed resonators, new felts and key corks. Ships in perfect playing condition with protec Max case.
