Used Martin Indiana Tenor Sax in Gold Lacquer - Serial # 43992
Great Starter Horn!
Here we have a Martin Indiana tenor saxophone in gold lacquer, serial number #43992. These Martin Indiana models ran with separate serial numbers than the professional models of the time, these are student model horns. This one has seen a whole lifetime of use and is still hanging in just fine. It's a great dark playing horn for the student or beginner on a budget!
Physically, this horn has been through a lot, many posts and a few tone holes have been resoldered, a few indentations on the bow are showing underneath the lacquer. The neck doesn't show any signs of pull down. The bell engraving has faded from a past relacquer job. Materials on this horn are holding but are on their way out, so to speak; the horn plays from bottom to top with a few leaks. Soon this horn will need a repad, but a student would definitely find some decent mileage before they would need a complete repad.
Sonically, this horn plays with a big sound, a solid core, and a lovely rich dark character. There is key work from low Bb up to palm F with a front F mechanism for alternate palm key fingerings.
This horn ships in as-is playing condition in a Guard brand gig bag with its original neck.
