This is a very nice later vintage Mark VII alto sax by Selmer Paris, serial number 299553. The Selmer Mark VII showcases a rich, darkly focused core sound. This one in particular is very direct in its response to air flow and is a fantastic horn all around. A great alto for players looking for a sax with excellent sonic clarity.
Physically the body of the sax is just about as clean as it gets. It did see some normal play time in its day but from the looks of things it has spent most of its life carefully tucked away in the case. There is absolutely no major history of past repair to the body. No past re-solders and no dent work. The only real wear of notes is a little bit of finish wear on the bow and bow cap area, but nothing major. All of the original key work, rollers and pearls are intact and are in terrific condition. The key pearls even still have that crisp “new” feel to them. This alto is is with the original neck with M7 stamp. The neck is also in perfect physical condition.
This alto came into our shop with all of the original pads and factory materials. As these are all past their prime the saxophone is currently awaiting a professional overhaul at this time. The overhaul will include a dissemble, cleaning, fine regulation of the key work and a final set up with all new premium leather pads, brown nylon resonators and new felts and corks.
The alto ships in perfect playing condition with a fresh Saxquest overhaul and the original Selmer wood hard case. Its case is also in great shape and includes the original zip cover.
