This is a vintage C.G. Conn 10M “Naked Lady” tenor saxophone in original lacquer finish, serial number 288613. The 10M is a highly dynamic playing instrument and is a favorite with professionals in need projection and power. This one in particular is super responsive and features a crisp brilliant character to the way it plays. Like many of the best playing pro saxophones this one shows history of plenty of use as well as some past repair. The original lacquer finish has a crisp look across the body and is further complemented by the “Naked Lady” engraving on the bell.
The physical body of this saxophone is in very good condition. All of the original key work, rollers and guards are intact. The rolled tone holes are also all in good shape. There was previously a few dings removed around the back of the bow. The bow cap itself is still in very good condition and has never been seriously pushed in. The bell is in very nice condition showing off a clean bell flare ring with no history of past damage. Looking over the saxophone carefully it shows some past repair towards the top of the body tube. There was previously a solder repair to one of the posts for the palm F key.
The original neck for this tenor is with the saxophone. It shows similar cosmetic character to the rest of the instrument. The neck was very slightly pulled down at some point in the past. The pull down was extremely slight as the support brace is still in excellent condition and has never been repaired in the past.
This tenor came into the shop playing up a storm on a recent pad job from another shop. The last tech to work on the horn used a set of red key felts and natural cork material. All of the leather pads and nylon resonators are still in like new condition. In order to make sure it is still sealing up well we will will give it a good play test and a bench check before shipping.
This is a bright and powerful playing 10M tenor. It has good looks and is a fantastic player. Ships in a nice contoured SKB case.
