Early Naked Lady Alto

This is a very sweet Conn Naked Lady alto saxophone, serial number 258050. The serial number falls in the late traditional period as the horns were moving into the 6M series. This saxophone showcases rolled tone hole construction as well as tilting thumb rest, 6m style table keys, New York style neck and the iconic “Naked Lady” engraving on the bell. The original trill G# key is with this instrument but is not currently attached.

The pictures of the alto tell its story the best. It has seen quite a bit of honest play time in its day. As it is now it shows history of past body and solder repair, most of the finish is no longer present. Some smaller dings still remain at this time and the bell to body brace is very slightly pushed in. The engraving around the bell is still clear and well defined. This saxophone includes a vintage “New York” style neck with out micro tuner. The neck shows similar cosmetic condition to the rest of the body but does not have any signs of major past damage or repair.

This sax came in on an older pad job from another shop, playing decently down to low Bb through some leaks and key clicks. The pads look like they are already a little on the older side but are pretty clean and do not look like they have seen a ton of use. Ultimately if you are going to be putting a lot of serious use on the alto it is preferably going to need a professional overhaul. But at the moment it is playing with a powerful and brilliant character indicative of the classic “Conn” sound. Because of the busy repair schedule in our shop and in order to keep the price low on this item we are selling it in as is condition.

This alto ships with the neck and unattached G# key in a very nice Hiscox case. Please take a look at the pictures and let us know if you have any questions.
