This is a fantastic Keilwerth-produced Conn DJH Modified 110M series tenor sax in original lacquer, serial number 86342. This tenor looks fantastic and has obviously been very well cared for over its life (or not played much, which is equally possible). It will ship with a fresh overhaul from our shop and be in tip-top playing shape for its next owner.

This horn was sold by Conn in the 80s when the company was owned by Daniel J Henkin (“DJH”). Since Conn no longer had the means to make a top shelf professional saxophone, it was sourced by Keilwerth in Germany, and is very much like a Couf Superba tenor of that era. It features rolled tone holes, while retaining Conn style “naked lady” engraving on the bell.

The pictures tell the tale on this one, and it is obviously in great shape. The original lacquer is 95%+ intact, with mostly just surface scratching on the backside of the tube and bell. No dents or signs of past dent repair. A couple keyguard feet have been expertly resoldered, but you've got to look awfully close to spot the work. The original neck has never been damaged. All in all, tremendous shape top to bottom. We'll be performing a full pro overhaul on this sax, putting in all new pads matched with metal resonators, and new material throughout. Our regulation will entail optimizing key heights and spring tensions, so the action will be crisp with no lost motion.

This tenor really wails, and you can move a ton of air through it. Still, it stays fat and warm without getting shrill or piercing. A nice edge that cuts well in a loud room and carries to the back. This is a great jazz or rock n roll instrument.
