This is a stellar players horn, vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor in original lacquer, serial number 130633. The tenor features the American style floral engraving and key work to high F#. At the time these saxophones were manufactured the high F# was only available as special order.
Like many of the best pro horns, this one has seen its fair share of use and performances over the years. There is some history of past dent work as well as solder repair on the saxophone. We are not sure the neck is original to the sax, as it lacks the matching serial number. It is generally accepted that Selmer discontinued this practice around 134xxx, but even if it's not the original neck, it matches the sax well in color of lacquer and sonic response. The neck has been previously pulled down, but was more recently brought back to its true position.
The saxophone was last re-padded by another pro shop several years ago with red painted leather pads and metal dome resonators. These pads have a nice medium firmness to them. While they are no longer in new condition they are still covering the horn well and providing a strong seal at this time. This saxophone received a playing condition service in our shop in 2023. During the service we refreshed most of the key materials and changed out just a few pads. We will also go through the saxophone once more before shipping to ensure it leaves our shop in perfect playing condition.
Mark VI's like this one are perfect for the pro player in need of something to use in a variety of settings. A fantastic workhorse tenor!
