Super Tone Master 8
This is a very nice and pretty Florida vintage Otto Link Super Tone Master 8 for tenor sax. The mouthpiece was very more recently professionally re-silvered at Anderson Silver Plating and re-faced by Tommy Occhiuto. This mouthpiece has a history of of past play time like all good Otto Links. At this time it looks stunning with a clean silver finish. It also has a history of past refacing, you can see multiple signatures of past re-facers. See photos
Looking over the profile of the piece it shows a very clean profile regarding the table, tip and side rails. It plays with a very direct response and a warm color. The overall character does have a rather intense quality with just a touch of resistance to lean into.
Austin tested this piece on a 1956 vintage Mark VI Tenor with 3.5 Vandoren Blue Box reeds and a rovner versa ligature.
