This is a unique looking Selmer Mark Vi alto saxophone in raw brass finish, serial number 116523. If you are looking for a VI with a slightly unique look this Mark VI from 1964 should be very appealing. It looks like someone did a restoration on it in the past, which include chemically stripping the finish. Since the work the brass has developed a very unique look across the raw brass body.
The physical body of the saxophone is in very nice shape. As the horn is in raw brass it is difficult to know the exact history behind the horn. But as it sits now it does not show any history of serious past repair around the body. Its tube, bow, bow cap and neck are all in excellent condition. All of the original key work and guards are with this saxophone and are in good condition as well. This is a very expressive free blowing player. It showcases a darker character with clear projection.
Some one previously had this saxophone restored several years ago in another shop. At this time the materials and many of the pads are all getting to be pretty hard and the horn is in need of a good set-up. In order to ensure the horn is perfect for the next owner the sax is currently awaiting a professional set up in our shop. The work will include a dissemble and cleaning followed by precise key fitting and a set-up. While the sax is apart we will replace all of the key materials and any pads that are not up to our standards. We will also take out the small ding located on the bow showing in the pictures.
This sax ships out in perfect playing condition with a non original wood hard case.
