Vintage Mark VI Alto

This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto from 1966, serial number 136509. While the sax is not the prettiest item around it is physically in solid condition and is a stellar player.

The old saying “don't judge a book by its cover” most definitely applies to this saxophone. It takes the air in super quick and responds with a gorgeous character. It is considerably more open feeling and free blowing in comparison to the Selmer saxophones being made today. This one in particular keeps a very full quality from the bell keys all the way into the extreme upper register. Clarity of sound and projection are exceptional on this sax.

The photos of this sax tell its story the best. It has seen plenty of use over the years. It was re-lacquered in the past and has a history of body and solder repair. But, that being said if you are looking for a top-notch player Selmer alto at a great price this horn is a fantastic option. This alto came into our shop having not been serviced in some time. As the current pads are very hard and past their prime, we will perform a complete overhaul on this alto before it ships. The professional overhaul will include a dissemble and cleaning before it receives precise key fitting and set up. While the horn is apart our tech will outfit the sax with a new set of premium leather pads, metal dome resonators as well as all new corks and felts. Once complete the sax will be in perfect playing condition.

This saxophone will soon be back to perfect playing condition. It ships out with a fresh overhaul from our shop in a later vintage Selmer wood hard case.
