Selmer Paris Mark VI – Early Five Digit

This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone in original lacquer finish from 1956, serial number 65189. This alto was the pride and joy of its previous owner who purchased it from their music teacher in 1975. It has seen plenty of love and use over the years in a coastal area. At the moment it has been some time since it has seen any serious servicing. As such it is currently in line to receive a mechanical restoration in our shop. Once complete the saxophone will be in perfect playing condition.

The Mark VI alto has been a cherished item and it has been well played over the years. It shows off the classic honey tinted air bake lacquer from the late 1950's as well as the crisp American floral engraving around the bell. Like any great playing pro horn the alto has seen plenty of use over the years and has some history of solder and body repair. Looking over it closely, you can see a past solder repair to one of the guard feet on the low C key guard foot as well as a small pushed in area to the bow cap. The integrity of the bow itself is excellent as is the body tube and bell. This saxophone is with all of the original key work, guards, key pearls and the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck has similar cosmetic appearance to the body but does not show any signs of being seriously pulled down.

This alto is currently awaiting a professional overhaul in our shop. The work will include a dissemble and cleaning followed by a re-spring, meticulous key fitting and a precise set up of the key work. Once complete the sax will be sporting a brand new set of premium leather pads with the utilization or the Selmer screw back resonators as well as new felts and key corks. While the horn is apart in our shop we will also remove the small dings present on the body and neck.
