Selmer Paris Radio Improved 1934

This is a very pretty vintage Selmer Paris Radio Improved alto sax in silver plate, serial number 19659. The RI was the last version of the “Super” line. They are all stamped “Radio Improved” on the bell and have some slight differences in key work in comparison to their predecessors. This one in particular was previously restored in the past. The work included re-finishing the silver plate before being re-padded. The body of the sax shows off a sleek silver finish with a clean body. There is no traces of any major repair to the sax on its current finish. Its body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare are all in great shape. The sax is also with the original neck.

This alto plays with a beautiful clear projecting sound and a rich brilliant color. The last person to restore the sax used a nice set of leather pads and custom flat metal resonators. These pads are starting to get on the hard side but it does not look the saxophone has seen much use since its last service. All of the pads are very clean. This saxophone is currently awaiting a professional set up in the Saxquest shop. While the saxophone is apart in our shop we will also replace any needed key materials and pads.
