Conn C-Melody
This is a vintage C.G. Conn C-Melody saxophone in silver plate, serial number 99544. These saxophones are fabulous examples of the great American craftsmanship of the early 1920's. This New Wonder showcases rolled tone holes, trill G#, palm key F and front F. All of the original key work is included with this saxophone as well as the original rollers. The horn was last seriously serviced in the 1980's at which time all of the pads and materials were replaced. The horn does not look like it has received a lot of use since then but as the pads are very old and because it has not been serviced in 40 years the saxophone does not play all that well currently. At this point in time it can be played with some effort all the way down to the low Bb. Ultimately, if you are planning on doing serious playing on this saxophone it would need to be overhauled before it could be considered in perfect playing condition.

Physically the sax is in extremely good condition. Looking over the horn it has had some past repair but honestly it is nothing too serious for a horn of this vintage. The bow cap has a couple of small pushed in areas but the condition of the bow is still true. There is a re-soldered post in the upper most region of the body tube. The bell flare with gold wash finish is in good shape. This saxophone is with the original neck and mico tuner. The neck is in good condition and the micro tuner is free moving and fully functional.

If you are looking for an American classic to play with around the house or maybe a project piece an old Conn can be great. At this time the horn is playing with a bunch of leaks and key clicks down to low Bb. In all honesty because the horn is pretty difficult to play at this time it is very difficult to play with total control and make acute judgment relating to pitch. If you are planning on putting a serious amount of play time on it or using it for performance it is going to need to be overhauled first.

At this time we have a large number of great vintage saxophones we are listing at low prices in as is condition. Pick this one up at a great price. Ships in as is condition with original wood case. The case is not in the best shape but we will professionally pack this horn for safe travel when shipping.
