Today there is a multitude of classic jazz performances that can be seen on YouTube. One such video show cases the Duke Ellington Orchestra playing a rousing swing number which goes on to feature several soloists including his drummer Sam Woodyard. One of Duke's go to soloists unfortunately missed his opportunity to play because he had fallen asleep on the band stand. The video is quite a fantastic display of musicianship and is also highly entertaining.
Who was the sleepy soloist and what is the title of the video? Hint: Ellington and the name of the song are what makes up the title.
Paul Gonsalves - Soloist Ellington-Perdido
