This saxophonist began his studies with Marcel Mule in 1955, and in 1956 was the first American to be awarded the most prestigious award for saxophone at the Paris Conservatory. He had this to say about Marcel Mule, “Le Maitre” (The Master)
The record jacket of Marcel Mule's album said that Marcel Mule taught at the Paris Conservatory of Music, and on a whim I wrote to him. Much to my amazement, he answered my letter and, in the warmest and kindest manner, suggested it might be possible for me to study with him in Paris. No one in my family had ever ventured much past the borders of Wisconsin.
He has since become one of the nation’s leading concert saxophonists and pedagogues.
Who is he?
