The creative musician and music enthusiast is no stranger to programmatic themed music. From Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique to Led Zeppelin’s Lord of the Rings references the musical universe we know has many connections to various artistic realms. The music from a recent ECM release was inspired by Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey. This album consists of 9 tracks for a total of 64 minutes of music. While parts of the album are very intense and fairly dark there is also a lot of sensitivity being displayed. The compositions on the album were written by one of music’s true leaders in jazz composition and instrumental performance.
