As an accomplished jazz pianist and member of the Jazz Messengers, Cedar Walton was never a stranger to working with fantastic saxophone players. One session in 1972 featured a quintet co-led by Walton and 4 other well known hard bop players. The two sax players on the session, playing tenor and bari, laid down an impressive barrage across tunes that included originals and standards like Summertime. While the album is not always high in the list of must have albums it is most definitely worth a good listen.
What is the name of the Cedar Walton album and who were the two saxophone players on the session?
Breakthrough! with Hank Mobley on Tenor and Charles Davis on Baritone
