This is a first-year model (1945) Martin Committee III alto saxophone, serial number 150211. This alto is priced to move, needing some minor regulation work, but is in very good physical condition.
This Martin was relacquered recently and also re-engraved in the original floral pattern, and looks exceptional. It has not been played much since the work, and basically looks like a new horn. There's evidence of some past resolders on a couple of the lower body keyguards, but I see no other obvious past repairs. The original neck has the matching serial number and has never been pulled down. The right hand thumbrest, originally an adjustable version from Martin, has been replaced with a standard fixed thumbrest; all the rest of the horn has original parts.
This alto was repadded using Selmer style pads with brown plastic resonators. However, it is not playing well as it sits right now, especially in the bottom end, and needs a good adjustment to iron out the kinks. Our repair shop is backed up for months, so we've decided to sell this one as-is needing the work. Your chance to pick up a sweet “The Martin Alto” at a super low price.
With a bit of regulation this will be a fine player, from Martin's heyday. Ships in its original orange Martin case.
