Black Lacquer Yamaha Custom EX YAS-875EXIIB Alto Sax - Serial # E10456

This is a very fine example of a second series (II) Yamaha Custom EX alto sax in black lacquer, serial number E10456. The sax looks fantastic and has been well played but well cared for. It will get a fresh cleaning and pro adjustment from our repair shop before shipping, so you have assurance that it will come to you playing like a brand new horn.

This alto shows minor lacquer here and there on the gold lacquered keys, most notably on the D palm key which lost some finish after a riser was removed, but the black lacquered body shows virtually no wear. The original Custom V1 neck has never been pulled down, but does currently have one tiny ding on one side, which we will carefully remove during our work on the sax. Pads are still in great shape. We'll replace a few in the upper stack as part of our regulation, as well as all key adjustment corks and felts, and precisely adjust the action so that it feels crisp and new under your fingers.

This is a dynamic player for saxophonists who find themselves playing in a variety of settings. It definitely plays warmer/darker than your traditional gold lacquered Custom EX, with a strong focus, so it will feel comfortable in the classical/concert band setting. However, when paired with a brighter/edgier mouthpiece, it really wails, and projection hits to the back of the room, so you'll have no problem in the jazz or rock setting either.
