This is an early vintage King H.N. White model alto saxophone in original satin silver finish, serial number 42551. Easily one of the oldest Kings we have had in the shop in quite sometime. This particular sax dates back to 1918. Some notable features of the HN White model is key work with front F as well as a trill G# key. It should also be noted the standard G# key cup is located on the rear side of the body tube.
This alto is an absolute blast to play. It is free blowing and has a very authoritative bright sound. The air moves through this sax very quickly. The last owner did put a nice set of leather pads and metal resonators on it in addition to having the body cleaned up. At this time the saxophone is playing through some leaks down to a low Bb. If you are going to do a lot of playing on this sax it would need a set-up before it could be considered in prefect playing condition. But as it sits it is currently playing decently as is and is a very fun horn to play.
The body of the alto is sitting in great shape for its vintage. There is some history of minor past repairs. The neck receiver was repaired in the past as was a few of the lower body posts. The body tube and all of the tone holes are in great shape as is the bell and bow. There was previously some dings taken out of the bow and the front part of the bow cap shows a small area which is slightly pushed in. But the overall integrity of the large bow cap is in great shape. This saxophone includes the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck has never been pulled down and is in good physical condition.
Because of its age and early serial number this saxophone is most ideal to the American vintage collector. Ships in 'as is' condition with a later vintage King box hard case.
