GORGEOUS Buescher 140 Silver Post 'B' Aristocrat Alto with Gold-Wash Bell #336915 - As-Is
As-Is Beauty - Plays Great!
This is a drop-dead gorgeous Buescher Aristocrat in satin-silver plate with a gold wash bell, serial number #336915. This sax is in amazing condition, retaining nearly all of its original silver plate, there's barely a scratch on it!
The Buescher model 140 has standard chromatic keywork from low Bb up to palm-F, with a front-F mechanism. The bell keys for low B and Bb are located on the left side of the bell, operated by wide table keys with amber rollers for the left-hand pinky.
The whole body looks very nice, very few scratches anywhere beside the bell rim. No indentations on the bow, bell, body tube, all the original snaps are gone and almost all the pads have metal domed resonators on them. One piece of the octave mechanism has been replaced with a nickel plated piece from a Bundy I alto, someone has gone in and reshaped the octave key touch as well, exposing some brass. The Norton screw-back springs have all lost their plating but show no signs of corrosion.
Sonically this alto plays with a free blowing response and a big, rich, character with a slight edge. Jazz, funk, and rock players would be able to cut with ease at any jam session that's getting too noisy, these vintage American horns were designed for this kind of experience.
We will ship this horn in as-is playing condition with the original neck in a black MTS box-style carrying case with a black felt interior.
