Very clean original lacquer CG Conn 26M “Conn-queror” alto sax, serial number 267915. This alto is in tremendous shape, and is a very good example of one of the best saxophones Conn ever produced.
This sax was manufactured at the height of Conn's ingenuity and prowess. Basically and upgraded 6M, it features set screws all over the place, sterling silver key touches on nearly all of the touch points, and improved 6M style keywork. It has rolled tone holes (never filed on) and a trill G#, with original neck featuring double socket receiver, underslung octave key, and microtuner mechanism, which spins freely.
The original lacquer on this alto looks great, with 95%+ original finish intact. There's some minor wear on the bottom bow and around the engraving, but because the key touches are silver, not much other wear to speak of. A smattering of tiny pencil-point pings in the bottom bow, but no major dents or previous dent repair, including no resoldered joints. Pads are in great shape, and the sax is due to receive a full, fresh pro setup from our repair shop. It will ship in perfect regulation and backed by our full one year mechanical warranty.
The 26M is arguably the greatest alto ever produced by Conn. It has the quick, fast response of the 6M, with an even fuller, broader sound. Very full and powerful voice; you can push as much air as you can through this alto, and it never feels like you are hitting a wall. A tremendously fun sax to play, and wonderful for lovers of the vintage American horns.
