Original Lacquer Kng Zephyr Alto Sax with Good Pads - Serial # 325675

This is an early 50s vintage King Zephyr series alto sax in original lacquer, serial number 325675. This alto was recently restored/overhauled by another shop and done well, and is playing great. It is a fantastic pro level alto for players who seek the vintage sound on a budget.

This Zephyr shows moderate wear for its age (it is 70+ years old after all) but is in solid physical condition with no major dents or signs of serious past damage or trauma. The original double socket neck has the matching serial number and it too is in solid shape. The horn was repadded using firm leather pads with flat disc resonators, and everything is sealing well top to bottom.

This alto has a definitively warmer/darker sound, with a lot of “fuzz” in its tone. It certainly has that smokey jazz thing going for it, with a sultry voice. Response is nice and it plays with control from low Bb up into the altissimo. Fun horn to play. This Zephyr ships in its original case, which isn't in stellar shape, but it still gets the job done.
