This is a very cool, original silver Buescher New Aristocrat series alto sax, serial number 265607. The “New Aristocrat” was only in production for 2-3 years; it features split bell keys and True Tone style keywork (especially in the table), but has the art deco engraving pattern of the Aristocrat models that would come out in 1935. One of the most rare Buescher models around, it has long been a staple of collectors and Buescher lovers.
As you can see in the photos, this alto is in stellar shape. The original silver plating is 98% intact, with minimal wear, even on the touch points, and the sax shows its original gold wash inside the bell. There's one previous repair that I can spot: a past dent has been removed from the “top” side of the bottom bow, but the work was done extremely well. No other previous repairs that I can spot, including on the original “01” neck. The horn still has all of its original snap-in metal resonators and original gold plated Norton springs.
This alto was recently repadded in another shop and we performed a bench check-up to make sure everything is sealing well. The pads are solid and in like-new condition, and the sax has just barely started to tarnish since the work. We replaced some material and optimized key heights, and the sax is playing beautifully.
This alto plays with a very sweet, lush, rich tone, offering superb control to the player. Not as focused as a modern Selmer nor as spread as a vintage Conn, it plays with a good balance, allowing you to take it in any direction you like. Really fun alto to play. Ships in its original case, which is in great shape.
