Incredible condition, all original silver Buescher straight alto saxophone, serial number 202067. We went several years between seeing this rare instrument, and we've been fortunate to have two in the shop in recent months. This one is in gorgeous original matte silver plate, and features all new pads and material.
Buescher's uniquely designed straight alto sax was made during the True Tone era and is similar to those models in keywork. This is from the “later” era of the True Tone, and features some improvements over the earlier models, including front F and improved table keys. It also has a “detachable” bell. The body is in original matte (brushed) silver plate, with burnished (shiny) silver played keys and bell, with original gold wash inside the bell. All looks fantastic, with very little finish wear despite its age. There only previous repairs I can spot is some minor past dent work around the curve of the bell flare. It looks perfect, but you can still feel evidence of the work when you run your fingers around the bell. Not other previous repairs anywhere, and that includes the original neck.
This sax was recently completely restored in all new pads, while retaining the original Buescher metal snap-in resonators. It has blued needle springs and everything is in tip-top shape. The sax will get a check-over in our repair shop before shipping, where we'll ensure it is sealing perfectly for its next owner.
This alto is so much fun to play. The sound comes at you at a completely different angle, since the bell is pointed straight down, but it still has all the warmth and color you'd expect on a vintage Buescher. Truly one-of-a-kind playing experience. The sax ships with its original “The Buescher” alto sax mouthpiece and in its original hard case.
