Very nice original Yamaha YSS-62 straight soprano sax, serial number 6127. This is a straight one-piece soprano featuring keywork to high F#, and has remained one of the more popular models Yamaha ever released.
Often called the “purple logo” model because of the stamping on the bell, this early era Yamaha 62 is known for its versatility. You can play this horn in any setting from jazz to classical, and it is particularly popular in the concert band and quartet environment. It plays with outstanding resonance and response, with strong intonation and a great balance/core up and down the range of the instrument.
This 62 remains in fantastic shape, with 97%+ original lacquer intact. There is just minor wear here and there, mostly on the usual touch points. There's a couple tiny past chair/stand pings in the bottom bell flare, but no other past damages, and no resolders or dents to be found in the tube. The sax came to us on mostly original pads, which are obviously getting up there in years, so to do it right, it will get a full professional overhaul from our shop before shipping. We'll clean the horn inside and out, replacing all pads and material, and precisely regulate the action so that it feels like a brand new horn again.
Finding these older purple logo horns in good shape is becoming increasingly tough, and getting one in new pads, ready to go for a long time to come, is an added bonus. Ships in its original purple Yamaha hard case.
