Selmer Paris Reference 54 Tenor Sax in Gold Lacquer - Serial # 805631

This is a really pristine example of a Selmer Paris Reference 54 series tenor sax in lacquer, serial number 805631. This tenor is just a few years old and has been extremely well cared for. Available for a tremendous price, this tenor is a great deal for players looking for this now-discontinued horn in fantastic shape.

The original lacquer is 99% intact, showing only minor scratching here and there on the back side of the horn, with no real lacquer loss/wear to speak of. One small ping was removed from the front side curve of the bottom bow, and that's the only previous repair that I can spot anywhere. Absolutely superb shape top to bottom, including the neck.

Pads are all still in like-new condition, and the sax will get a fresh pro set up from our shop before shipping. We'll clean it inside and out, clean and reseat all pads, and replace all of the factory key adjustment corks and felts. It will leave our shop playing as well (or better!) than the day it left the factory.

The Selmer Reference horns are great players if you are looking for a darker tone. These lacquered examples don't play as dark as the matte finish variety though, and overall the response is very lively and quick, with a full tone that really belts when you push it. Strong focus gives you a solid foundation for altissimo. Fun horn to play!
