This is a vintage SML Super 46 model alto sax in silver plate, serial number 6472. These Super series horns by SML had many of the features that would be touted later in the Gold Medal model. It has rolled tone holes, a much-improved table cluster, rib construction under the posts on the body, and a pearl key touch on the octave key. Released during the Rev B series, it also has bell keys on the right (modern) side.
This is a neat horn for SML fans, and I know there's a lot of them out there! Many consider the Gold Medal the pinnacle of the company, but this Super 46 predates that famous horn by a good 10 years and has many comparable features. The silver plating shows wear but overall is solid. One foot of the low Eb keyguard popped off during shipping to us, but we'll resolder that before shipping. There are no other previous damages or repairs, and that includes to the original neck.
This SML arrived to us on old pads well past their use, and it needs a repad. Our repair shop is backed up for months, so we made to the decision to sell this alto as-is. Once you get it padded up, it will be a sweet little player for you.
