Vintage Conn Chu Berry Nickel Plated C-Melody Saxophone, Serial #184953
This is a vintage Conn Chu Berry nickel plated C-Melody saxophone, serial number 184953. If you are looking for a great C-melody on the cheap that is in playing condition a Conn Chu is a great choice. The instrument does have the history of quite a bit of past use but is in solid condition as it is currently. There is a few smaller dings still on the horn and a few spots of solder repair. The neck has also been repaired in the past.
It looks like it was most likely the owned by an at home tech/DIY. There is currently a set of fabric crescent inserts behind the tone holes in the lower stack. In addition to the DIY modifications the horn is unfortunately missing 3 of its key rollers. The sax is currently playing through some leaks on a mix match of mostly older pads. All of the key work and guards are intact on this instrument.
Ultimately this saxophone is going to need a fairly thorough overhaul before it can be considered in perfect condition. As it is now the horn does play down to a low Bb through some leaks and key clicks. The intonation is not the easiest to control and is very spread, but it is more manageable in comparison to many of the earlier vintage C-melodies we see come through our shop.
At this time Saxquest has a large number of vintage saxophones in need of restoration. With our shop being very backed up we are selling a number of items in as is condition for lower prices.
This sax ships out in as is condition with a crude but effective retro fit SKB tenor sax case.
