Vintage Conn New Wonder II 'Chu Berry' Alto Sax in BEAUTIFUL Original Silver Plate #220460
AS-IS Price for a PLAYING CHU
Pictured above is an impressively well-kept C.G. Conn New Wonder II alto sax in original silver plate, serial #220460. This model is nicknamed the 'Chu Berry' model, after the player who is famed from the 1920s and 30s for performing on Conns. You can find many professionals who turn to this model for its massive lush sound from the 1920s all the way to present day, the sound is really one of a kind!
This one is in beautiful condition showing only a few dents, on the bow and the neck; it also possesses very old materials, it could use a repad, but it still plays! Key-work for New Wonder II models include low Bb and B split bell keys, and chromatic coverage up to palm F, front-F mechanism included to traverse into the altissimo range. There are trill key options for G# and Eb/D# in the right hand, a standard of the 1920s.
This horn has original silver plating from 1929 in two textures, matte across the body, and a burnished silver area designated for an ornate engraving on the front of the bell. The plating has held up immaculately and shows wear in only a few spots, the thumb hook, neck strap ring, octave key, and neck key.
The 'Chu Berry' horn is known for its hard-to-beat free-blowing feel, powerful and rich sonic texture, massive low end, and its timeless aesthetics. This one is no exception, it plays great as-is, and you can tell with new materials this one will slay on the band stand.
So we are offering this one at a bargain in AS-IS condition, it will ship with its original neck and original hardwood box case with purple plush interior.
