Vintage Original Lacquer Buescher Top Hat and Cane Alto Sax, Serial #317607
Buescher Top Hat and Cane
This is an original lacquer Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane alto saxophone, serial number 317607. If you are looking to get into a vintage American alto at a lower price this one is going to be very appealing. The Buescher 400 THC is arguably one of the most free blowing saxophones ever manufactured. This one does have all of the original Buescher snap resonators, amber rollers and gold plated springs. The body tube, bow and bow cap are all in good condition. There are a few small dings currently around the bow but nothing too terribly serious. The bell flare, bow cap and tone ring are all in great condition as well. This sax does include the original neck with under-slung octave key. The neck is in good shape and was never pulled down in the past.
The alto came into our shop on a set of very old pads. If you are going to be putting a lot of serious play time on it the sax will ultimately need a overhaul before it is in perfect playing condition. Even though the pads are very old on this saxophone it is currently playing very nicely down to a low D. If you push a lot of air you can still get the low Bb. We are currently offering this saxophone in as is condition playing on an older set of pads at a drastically reduced price. If you have the time and would like us to do a professional overhaul on the horn please make the selection add an overhaul on the drop down menu when adding the item to the cart. Our overhaul would a complete mechanical reworking of the instrument and would feature all new pads, corks, felts and a fresh set up with the utilization of the snap resonators.
