HELP, I Want One!

Selmer Balanced Action - 1938
This is a gorgeous Selmer Paris Balanced Action tenor saxophone, serial number 27362. It was overhauled earlier this year in our shop. It is a great looking horn and an exceptional player. The tenor is in perfect playing condition with all brand new pads and materials, it ships in perfect playing condition.

Like the majority of Balanced Action tenors we see, this one was re-lacquered in the past. The current finish is super clean from top to bottom. The engraving is clear around the bell and this sax also features a sail boat/mountain centerpiece. The lacquer is the proper air bake style with with a dark honey tint. Looking closely over the sax it does not appear to have received any major body work since the finish was re-done. The body tube, bow, bell, bow cap and original neck are all in very straight forward condition. All of the original key work and guards are intact and are also in great shape.

This tenor plays with a massive free blowing response and an ultra rich sonic character. In comparison to later vintage Selmers this one does have a wider, more open feel to the way it plays. This more open quality is sometimes described as “spread”. It should be noted that the control and balance is very consistent this tenor.

The Balanced Action was mechanically restored in our shop earlier this year. Our professional overhaul included a complete dissemble, cleaning, key fitting and regulation followed by a precise set up with all new Valentino pro pads and metal dome resonators. This saxophone is now in perfect playing condition and is ready for a new home. Ships with protec contoured case.
